Tree debarking
with the high-pressure cleaner

The pressure of a normal high-pressure cleaner is not sufficient for debarking trees. About 450 to 500 bar are required. LEMA has developed special high-pressure cleaners for this purpose. The operator should also have above-average aptitude in terms of strength and stability. The high pressure causes the bark to come off the trunk. This varies greatly depending on the type of wood, its moisture content and individual characteristics. After some time, the operator gets the hang of it and knows exactly where and at what angle the bark can be peeled off most quickly. It is very important that the wood under the bark is damaged as little as possible, i.e. that its structure is not torn open. It’s a matter of feeling and routine.

Hot water in high pressure cleaning for tree debarking?

The use of hot water is not necessary for this task. A typical field of application for tree debarking is log house construction. The advantage of this process is that the structure of the tree is not affected (as is the case when cutting boards) and the resistance = weather resistance of the wood is maintained.

LEMA recommends the use of a rotary cutter for this task. This rotating jet of water infiltrates the bark very effectively and causes very little damage because it remains in the same place for only a fraction of a second.

LEMA units for tree debarking can be operated electrically. But also drive by a gasoline engine is possible. Furthermore, the LEMA high pressure cleaners for tree debarking can also be manufactured for power take-off drive.
